How do i prevent / reduce condensation in a single skinned tent?
I have recently purchased a single skinned 2 man pop-up tent, i have used it twice with my girlfriend, we noticed that both times there has been very large amounts of condensation on the walls. The tent is a Gelert Quick Pitch SS, Reg.Design No. 3021178 (If that's any help at all)
What can I do to reduce the amount of condensation? i heard if you put a plastic sheet over the top of your tent this may help, but i don't see the physics behind it, i thought a second layer on top would make it even harder for the tent to ventilate.
Anyway, all feedback is appreciated greatly!
The key to keeping condensation build up out of your tent is ventilation and ground cover, set your tent over a ground cloth water barrier, a foot print of your tent is available from the manufacturer. The ground cloth keeps the ground moisture from rising up through the floor and keeping a window open will allow better ventilation. Putting a tarp over the top only makes matters worse. These single walled tents do not breath as well as the higher end tents do. The weight you saved by buying this type has been defeated by it's lack of breath-ability.
