What is the weather going to be like at Big Bear Mountain?
Me and my friends are going to camp this summer called Solo Summer Camp 2008 sponcered from a Henderson Church. We are from Vegas/Henderson and we have to drive to Blue Jay, Cali to Big Bear Mountain because that's where the whole camp place is. From June 30- July 5 we will be there at camp. Me and my friends were just wondering what the weather would be like so we know what to pack and what not to pack.
Big Bear during the summer is beautiful. It doesn't get over 85 and it doesn't start raining until August.
Remember that you are closer to the sun at that elevation and can burn a lot easier so have protective clothes, hats with brims, light jackets for the day and sweat shirts for the evening (the temp will drop down in the night to around 50-60.) Don't wear spaghetti strap tops because they don't offer much protection from the sun.
There are bugs so bring your bug spray. And bring your sunscreen too!
DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!!! I can't stress this enough. Of the 20 years I lived there the biggest problem tourist/campers had was they were dehydrated. You're really high up in the world there's less air and not as much moisture in the air. Any pains, aches and other maladies like head aches and stomach aches can be attributed to not drinking enough water.
Wear good shoes. In town has paved roads but you are hiking in the San Bernardino National Forest which is mountain terrain. Don't buy a new pair of hiking boots the day before you leave. Either start wearing your hiking boots now or wear a pair that are already broken in. (Sturdy tennis shoes work as well.)
Hopefully your group will give you a packing list of things to take.
Have a great time it's a beautiful place and wonderful in the summer!
Thanks for visiting!
