Arbor Vitae versus Leyland Cypress - Which to choose?
I am screening in a small corner of my backyard. I live in southeast Pennsylvania, USA. I have met with a few contractors and I have gotten different ideas from everyone. The question at hand, Arbor Vitae or Leyland Cypress? Anyone who has an opinion or experience with either would be helpful. I'm just not sure which to pick. Thanks so much for reading and replying.
Anything, as long as it is not the Leyland Cypress - these trees are a complete menace. They can grow up to 6 feet a year so you'll be forever cutting them back. And nobody knows how tall they grow - the first one appeared in (I think) the 1870s and it's still alive and over 150 feet tall. May be better to think of columnar trees like types of Juniper or Golden Irish Yew - they don't spread much and don't need much looking after.
Thanks for visiting!
