how does the international date line work?
in our school, we had to read a book called peak. We had our final assessment today. I was just going over the ending of the book and it said "It took twenty-four hour to get to New York, but because I crossed the international date line going west, I got there only a few hours after I left Kathmandu" I don't understand how that would work, can someone explain? Please, and thank you. 
You know how the time in California is 3 hours earlier than in New York? Well, if you keep going west, the time doesn't keep going backward forever. When you cross the date line going west, the time is 23 hours later, but from Kathmandu to New York you'd be going east (I think).
