What's the max RMS I can run my new alpine sub at?
I just got a new alpine sub SWR-1243D that specs say runs at 600 RMS with a peak at 1800 W and a MRX-M100 amp what's my best option as far as ohms 1ohm-500 RMS,2ohms-1000RMS,4ohms-600RMS I just feel like it should be hitting harder.
The subwoofer you list is a DUAL 4 ohm voicecoil subwoofer.

So you can hook it up as such:

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp?submitted=true&woofer_qty=1&woofer_imp=4
http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/1DVC_4-ohm_mono.jpg
2 ohm or 8 ohm would be the way to hook it up.
The amp specs:

MRX-M100 Mono Power Amplifier
- CEA-2006 Power Ratings:
600W RMS x 1 [4 ohm @ 14.4V ≤ 0.04% THD+N]
1000W RMS x 1 [2 ohm @ 14.4V ≤ 0.06% THD+N]
Many other sites have it wrong.
this is direct from Alpine's web site.
So most likely what you'll want to do is run it at 2ohm...1000watts, and turn the gains down 50% at the very LEAST....
Hitting harder is slightly relative. What's going to make a difference is the enclosure, and if it is built properly.
