Cambridge Latin Course 3 Translation Help?
Hi, i am a high school latin student, and i have been assigned to translate a particular passage, which is giving me quite some trouble. I was wondering if someone could help me translate.
Here is the passage:
Dumnorix, cum haec audivisset, consilium audax magnopere laudavit. tum Quintus servum fidisiimum arcessivit, cui mandata dedit. sevus exiit. mox regressus, cibum sex dierum Quinto et Dumnorigi tradidit. illi, e villa elapsi, per vias desertas caute processerunt.
villam Memoris praeteuntes, Quintus et Dumnorix duos equos conspexerunt, ad palum deligatos. Quintus, qui furtum committere nolebat haesitavit.
Thanks to anyone who can help with any part of this. I have minor parts of the 2nd half done but the 1st half was the most troubling.
Dumnorix, (I'm assuming the missing word is cum which would make this a cum circumstantial clause) when he had heard this (audivisset is a pluperfect active subjunctive), greatly praised the boldness of the plan. Then Quntus summoned the faithful slave, whom gave the order. The slave left. Sone he returned, giving Quintus and Dumnorix six days of food. Then, having left from the house, they proceeded cautiously through the desert.
That's half of the translation, but I'm a little unsure about the rest.
