House Cat Living in Wild?
I'm going to soon be moving to British Columbia with my boyfriend, for the summer. We're just going to rough it and live on his land. We'll have a tent and a small trailor, with electricity, water and heat.
I have a cat, and I'm worried that he won't be able to handle the wild life. There are all sorts of bigger animals that could pose a threat to him, bears, cougars, coyotes, etc, not to mention the land includes a river with rapids and a waterfall. Hes quite an independant little guy, and he seems pretty wary of danger, since right now we're on the busiest street in the city and he's roaming around outside all the time. But I realize city life is a lot different from the wild.
I'm just worried I'm dealing out a death sentence for him by taking him with us. I am very attatched to him and would hate to see him injured or killed. Any insight on the subject? Whether or not a cat would be okay in those circumstances? I'd appreciate any answers and experiences. : )
If this is only a summer experience, then I would find a family member or good friend who would care for him - rather than take the risk.
It would be different if you were taking a house - or even a caravan - but a tent is not going to let you keep him in safely at night.
If no-one can help, I would bite the bullet and use a good cattery while you take your extended vacation
