Why do women hike alone ?
I see women walking on a trail, in the hills, alone. I once saw a woman jogging alone at night in a heavily wooded city park.
I did not put the word "white" in the opening question because I do not want it to get deleted (as a different question was) but yes these are exclusively white women. No racial animus is meant here. I'm just seeking an explanation as to . . . why do they do it ?
I decided to carry a stick to hopefully help against a cougar assault. But now, I fear some woman might flip out.

It's not just white women, but anyways, being a part of this crowd, I notice these people usually come from better areas. They've been exposed to very little crime. That still doesn't stop it from happening, yeah, I know. For a lot of people, exercising is more enjoyable at night. You get into it, and don't think of bad things happening.
